- HammerMan was originally a Robot Master among the many robots I designed when I was a kid.
- When I originally made the "MegaMan 10" art for the CAPCOM MegaMan contest, I threw HammerMan in there as a kind of joke because it was pretty obvious that Hammer Man would be NailMan's weakness.
- When I decided to make the actual game (MMU), I replaced HammerMan with CometWoman because the game needed more variety in designs for the Robot Masters. Having Glue, Nail and Hammer would be really stupid. Plus, I didn't think HammerMan had a lot of possibilities of attacks as a Robot Master. His hammer head needed to be bigger so that he can actually attack with it, so I turned him into a sub-boss. That way people who liked him can still see him in action and we have a more varied cast of Robot Masters.
